Bio

I have always believed in prevention and working towards a safer community. I have believed in learning more, that education does not end at graduation. Change happens and we must continue to work with rather than against that change.

I have been involved in many endeavors over the past decades. Sailing and scuba diving were passions when I was younger. I experienced many adventures underwater, the best being the Caribbean and Great Barrier Reef. I was fortunate to become a Scuba Instructor which lead to my passion for teaching. Later, I decided that travel was important to learning and took advantages when they came up. Traveling across Europe was an adventure and was fortunate to later do this with my wife (Honeymoon) and son (HS Graduation gift).

I was blessed with invites to be on 3 IFSTA manual committees and 2 technical reviews of manuals. I was able to assist with course development at the National Fire Academy (as well as teach) and with Vision 20/20. I have been able to work with a group of subject  matter experts on a Youth Firesetting Data and Case Management system (YFIRES).

I have loved and lost, my wife of 30 years passed away in 2020 from a degenerative neurological disease. We have raised 3 boys and 1 girl to be productive adults with homes. We have 4 grandsons and 1 granddaughter. My passion is hiking and woodworking - the later I spend many hours making items for my kids, friends and charity auctions.
