This will be a live, in-person event to commemorate Community Risk Reduction Week. It will feature CRR representatives and booths from many local fire and emergency departments and non-governmental agencies. It will be held at the Auraria Campus in the Tivoli Quad. The Auraria Campus is home to several Universities including Metro State University, University of Colorado at Denver, and the Community College of Denver. The Universities are promoting this heavily, with one of the schools offering an Emergency Management Degree with Community Risk Reduction classes. The focal point of the event will be a side-by-side sprinkler demonstration, scheduled for around noon. The demo will show how quickly fire will spread in un-sprinklered dorm rooms.
The many vendors will focus on different aspects f Community Risk Reduction. The side-by-side demonstration will emphasize that Fire is Fast focusing on students, many of whom are on their own for the first time.
If weather interferes, the event will be rescheduled for the following Thursday, January 27, 2022.
