Texas Chapter Meeting - Best Practices for Underground Fire Lines

When:  Dec 8, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 01:30 PM (CT)

Come attend the NFSA Texas Chapter for a FREE Lunch and to hear a presentation and discussion about Underground Fire Service Lines.  Texas Fire Protection Professionals need to come together as a group to help educated and regulate best quality installation of Underground Fire Service lines. We will hear a presentation by Pete Schwab, and Texas NFPA 24 Technical Committee Members and Florida Fire Sprinkler Contractor.  We will discuss some strategies and ideas on how to hold our general contractors and owners responsible for performing the work correctly; and how we can all help enforce consistently.

Discussion items during the meeting:

  • What is best practice Underground Fire Line Design and Installation?
  • Do changes in the AWWA C-900 relate to Texas and How?
  • Should license contractors bail out (by signing off) owners or General contractors that have hired unlicensed installers?  How can we try to hold our general contractors and owners responsible for correctly installed underground work?
  • How should we communicate or negotiate with our customers once they choose the “cheap way out”?
  • Can we create some documentation to better educate our customers and AHJs – flyers, white papers, etc.?

Lunch is being provided by the NFSA Texas Chapter.
