VIRTUAL FREE TRAINING

Best Practices for Texas Underground Fire Lines

The NFSA Texas Chapter is hosting a virtual training session all focused on Underground Fire Service Lines on January 27, 2022.  The goal of the training is to educate all those Texas Fire Protection Professionals who install and regulate the installation of Underground Fire Service lines. Pete Schwab and Conor Kauffman; both members of the NFPA 24 Technical Committee will discuss NFPA 24 and strategies on how to hold our general contractors and owners responsible for performing the work correctly; and how we can all help enforce consistently.

Talking Points Included:

  • What are best practices for Underground Fire Line Design and Installation?
  • Do changes in the AWWA C-900 relate to Texas and How?
  • Should license contractors bail out (by signing off) owners or General contractors that have hired unlicensed installers?  How can we try to hold our general contractors and owners responsible for correctly installed underground work?
  • How should we communicate or negotiate with our customers once they choose the “cheap way out”?
  • Can we create some future trainings and documentation to better educate our customers and AHJs – flyers, white papers, etc.?
    • Authorities Having Jurisdiction
    • General Contractors
    • Civil and Mechanical Engineering
